Potential New Development for 2022

A research & development project creating 4 new works for a specially built 10 speaker rig capable of touring to a variety of venues and spaces. The hope is to be in a positon to develop work that can fully utilise the spatial qualities of the system to create enagaging immersive audio environments.

If successful in an development bid to ACE, STORM will be the first work to be created. It will be constructed using audio recordings taken over the past 30 years from many different locations around the world. Starting with distant thunder and building to swirling winds, rain, lightning claps before slowly disappearing into the distance leaving dripping water on leaves and in puddles.

Recent Work

Three new works were completed during the past 18 months although one (SENSE – see below) will now never see the light of day due to the impact of COVID19. However both SURFACE (completed just before the pandemic) & INHABITANTS (online performances) did manage to find an audience.

Surface

A series of audio-visual installation created in 2019/20. SURFACE events provide immersive installations using projected light through haze to create ephemeral 3D spacial sculptures. The installations have an integrated spatialised sound track. SURFACE works best in dark indoor spaces, but will be trailed outdoors (November 2022) for potential use in future outdoor venues and events.

Inhabitants

A 30 minute 2 channel audio track completed for a new performance work choreographed, performed and filmed by dancer Jonathon Baker. INHABITANTS was available as a limited live stream in September 2020 and should be available again at some point in 2022.

Sense Performances

SENSE was a touring multi media performance created and designed to provide a sensory based narrative for small audiences comprising adults with profound disabiltities. It was to take place within a specially constructed 3 screen intimate venue (a folding POD) and use a 3 screen video, scent difussers, four channel audio (one speaker for each screen and a large sub bass) together with a live cast of two actors and one musician. Its sensory narrative (image, action, text, touch, sound, taste and smell) was based upon tales of Orpheus desending into the underworld and returning to loose everything at the last moment. SENSE was due to tour nationally in 2020 with venues in Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham sold out in March 2020. Due to the intimate nature of the environment and vulnerability of audience, SENSE has now been cancelled.

Multi Media Work under development

Example Images from the Plastic People Project

Currently creating new images and material for the wide ranging Plastic People Project. This project began in 2006 creating composite images using 3D models and physical objects representing Human Form (dolls & mannequins etc). Although the project is yet to be completed as a unified multi media work, images from it have been used in several installations, multi media performances and exhibitions. A new site featuring all of this work is due to be launched in 2022.
